The Couchara Family

Did you ever wish you can go back in time and watch your baby’s first steps? Well, this family can because they made the choice to document their family’s journey with a family film - not just with traditional photographs or a family portrait session. Now these parents have their baby’s first steps preserved in their very own family film.

Let me be clear, family portraits are stunning, but they do not provide the same experience as video. In this family film, the morning routine is filled with moments of tenderness, laughter, sounds of their baby’s voice, trips to the playground, and precious nap time routines. This family film allows them to relive meal time around the table with baby in the high chair. A family portrait session cannot deliver these memories with the same depth as a family film.

Playing peek-a-boo, reading favorite books, and watching baby get into the dog’s water bowl for the hundredth time - are all experienced on a deeper level through video. I remember filming this family session. The expression on everyone’s face just told anyone watching just how much they loved one another. I recall the daughter’s face lighting up as she came out of the playground tunnel and reaching for dad’s hands. I was obsessing over the details of her tiny hands and bare feet. I was heart was touched when I was videoing mom and daughter, hand-in-hand exploring every level of the playground equipment. Watching this precious baby eagerly climb the steps and turning around to make sure her parents were watching her triumphantly ascend!

My personal favorite was watching mom and baby rocking together in the nursery. Hearing mom’s voice reading a book to her daughter and watching that blonde baby hair glisten in the light coming in through the window. How I cherished being a witness to this precious time spent together between mom and daughter. It is intentional on my part though, because I know that in this phase of parenthood you might be thinking - I cannot wait for the down time! In this phase of parenthood, your free time is priceless. Oh, I remember it well!

But as a momma of older an older child and one teenager, this morning family film session brought me back instantly to this chapter of my life. How I wish I had a professional family film of my own. So, I say thank you to the Couchara family for allowing me to create this lasting memory for their family.
